A proper pub in the old South Loop, serving pints and proper pub food: bangers and mash, fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, all made with vat-proteins but prepared traditionally. A pint of locally brewed ale is Φ7. A plate of bangers and mash is Φ12. The pub is dark, wood-paneled (salvaged, not original), and has the atmosphere of a place that has been doing this for longer than it actually has. Owner Declan Nakamura-Byrne built the atmosphere deliberately — he studied pub design with the intensity of an architect and considers ambiance a structural element.
