A floating dance barge that operates on Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee, making stops at lakefront docks along the corridor for passengers to board and disembark while the music never stops. The vessel is a converted Carrion Logistics flat barge, 60 meters long, with a dance floor, a bar, a DJ booth, and nothing else — no cabins, no seats, no shelter from the weather. You board, you dance, and when the barge reaches a dock near your destination, you get off. If you miss your stop, you dance until the next one.

The Lily Pad runs Friday and Saturday nights from May through October, departing Chicago's Navy Pier dock at 10 PM and arriving at Milwaukee's harbor around 4 AM, with stops at Waukegan, Kenosha, and Racine. The return trip leaves Milwaukee at 10 PM Saturday. The experience of dancing on open water under the stars, watching the corridor's shore lights slide past, is unlike anything available on land. The barge's owner, a former Carrion cargo pilot named Isadora Magnusson-Obi, quit corporate logistics to start the venture and considers it the best decision she ever made. The music is whatever the lake's mood suggests — on calm nights, it's smooth and atmospheric; when the waves pick up, it gets aggressive. The barge has never capsized, but on rough nights, the dancing and the lake become indistinguishable.
