The AEDM-3 Gauss is an electromagnetic designated marksman rifle that launches 3mm tungsten penetrators at hypersonic velocity with no chemical propellant and virtually no sound. The weapon's multi-stage electromagnetic acceleration system propels each penetrator to a velocity exceeding Mach 6, creating devastating terminal effects through pure kinetic energy. At the point of impact, the tungsten penetrator releases more energy than a conventional rifle round despite weighing a fraction as much.

The Gauss's silence is its primary tactical advantage. With no propellant gases and no supersonic crack from the barrel (the projectile goes supersonic inside the acceleration chamber), the only sound is the distant impact. A Gauss operator can engage targets at 800 meters with no visible muzzle flash, no sound at the firing position, and no ballistic trail connecting shooter to target. Counter-sniper detection systems designed for chemical-propellant weapons are ineffective.

Arcturus restricts the AEDM-3 to Tier 4+ military contracts at Φ35,000 per unit. The weapon's capacitor system provides 30 shots per charge, and the mandatory BCI link manages the complex acceleration timing that determines projectile velocity and thus effective range. Without the neural interface, the weapon cannot fire.
