A self-defense ring containing a miniaturized capacitor and twin needle electrodes concealed beneath a decorative bezel. When the wearer rotates the bezel 90 degrees with their opposite hand, the electrodes extend 3mm from the ring's surface, and a slap or grab delivers a 40,000-volt discharge directly into the attacker's skin. The discharge is sufficient to cause involuntary release of a grip, a sharp pain response, and a brief moment of muscle spasm — enough to break free from a grab and create space.

Nimbus Security designed the NR-1 specifically for scenarios where the victim has already been grabbed — a wrist seized, an arm held, a shoulder gripped. In these situations, the ring's electrodes are already in contact with the attacker, and activation is immediate. The ring is available in sizes 5 through 13 and in three metals: surgical steel (Φ95), titanium (Φ140), and a gold-plated variant (Φ260) that is functionally identical but aesthetically premium.

The NR-1 holds eight discharges per charge and recharges via a magnetic contact cradle included with purchase. Its limitation is power — at 40,000 volts with extremely low amperage, it causes pain and surprise but does not incapacitate. Nimbus is explicit in their marketing that the NR-1 buys you one second, and what you do with that second determines the outcome.
