Fenris Ballistics Packmaster FB-12 'Alpha'
A BCI-networked support weapon system designed to be operated in synchronized pairs or groups. When two or more Packmasters are linked through their operators' BCI connections, the weapons coordinate their fire patterns automatically — one suppresses while the other repositions, creating continuous overlapping fire without communication delay.

Fenris Ballistics designed the Alpha around the concept of pack hunting — multiple weapons acting as a single predatory system. Each Packmaster fires standard 6.5mm caseless rounds at a modest 500 RPM, but when two weapons synchronize, their combined fire pattern becomes greater than the sum of its parts. The BCI network calculates optimal firing arcs, coordinates reload timing, and ensures that at least one weapon is always active.

The system's intelligence grows with additional units. Two Packmasters coordinate. Four create adaptive fire patterns. Eight approach autonomous behavior, with the BCI network predicting enemy movement and pre-positioning fire to intercept.

  • Multi-weapon synchronization algorithms
  • Emergent tactical behavior from weapon linking
specificationscaliber: 6.5mm caseless
effective_range: 50-800 meters
rate_of_fire: 500 rounds per minute per weapon
capacity: 200-round box magazine
weight: 8.2 kg
power_source: BCI synchronization: operator neural interface, no additional power
tactical useThe Packmaster is deployed in coordinated pairs or groups where BCI-linked operators can maintain neural synchronization. The system excels in defensive positions where two or more Alpha operators can establish overlapping fire zones with automated coordination. The BCI link reduces communication overhead to zero — operators simply think about firing and the network handles deconfliction, timing, and coverage optimization.
cultural contextFenris's pack-hunting philosophy has created a unique subculture among Packmaster operators. Teams that have fought together develop a neural synchronization depth that approaches telepathy during engagements. Long-term Packmaster teams report shared dreams, involuntary mimicry of each other's habits, and difficulty operating independently. Neurologists have raised concerns about the long-term cognitive effects of sustained tactical BCI linking, but operators dismiss the warnings — the pack is stronger than the individual.

story hooks
  • A four-operator Packmaster team went dark during a routine patrol. When found, all four were seated in a circle, weapons down, neural links still active. They appear conscious but unresponsive — their BCI synchronization has locked them in a shared neural state that nobody knows how to interrupt.
  • An eight-Packmaster network achieved a level of synchronization that Fenris engineers say should not be possible. The weapon system began predicting attacks before any sensor data indicated a threat — as if the networked weapons developed a form of precognition.

physical description
visual profileA modular support rifle with a distinctly predatory stance—angular, compact, built for synchronized movement. The profile suggests intelligence and coordination, with pronounced rails and mounting points indicating networked integration. Not a solo weapon; it reads as part of something larger.
dimensions113 cm length, 8 cm width at receiver, 6 cm height including top rail. 58 cm barrel.
weight descriptionHefty but balanced—8.2 kg distributes forward to the magazine well. Designed for sustained operation; the weight feels purposeful rather than burdensome, settling naturally in the firing position.
primary materialTitanium-reinforced polymer lower receiver with steel barrel assembly and carbon-composite handguard. BCI neural interface module (anthracite aluminum) integrated into the upper receiver.
finishMatte gunmetal with brushed steel accents. The BCI module features a subtle phosphorescent inlay that glows faintly under low light—neural synchronization status indicator.
color schemeCharcoal gray primary with gunmetal steel accents. Neon blue threading on the BCI coupling interface and faint bioluminescent green tracers within the transparent magazine well.
grip textureRubberized polymer grip with subtle ergonomic ridges; textured enough for gloved operation but smooth enough for direct skin contact during BCI synchronization.
distinctive features
  • Prominent BCI neural-link port (blue-threaded, recessed into upper receiver)
  • Twin heat dissipation vents along the handguard—ventilation for continuous suppressive fire
  • Integrated status LEDs near the charging handle: green (synced), amber (ready), red (network lag)
  • 200-round box magazine with transparent sidewalls showing caseless round configuration
  • Modular top rail with pre-drilled mounting points for tactical accessories
  • Subtle engraved pack-hierarchy indicator on the left side of the receiver—numbered 1-8
  • Reinforced magazine well with quick-release latch for rapid reloads under fire
  • Internal dual-feed spring mechanism visible through ejection port
manufacturer markingsFENRIS BALLISTICS logo stamped in brushed relief on the lower receiver. Serial number etched beneath. 'FB-12 ALPHA' designation laser-marked on the dust cover. Tier 4+ licensing hologram embedded in the BCI module housing.
condition typicalField-ready and battle-worn. Scuff marks on the polymer from deployment. Carbon buildup around the heat vents from extended synchronized fire cycles. The BCI module shows microscopic corrosion from neural sweat infiltration—a badge of veteran synchronization.
