The Tessera TK-11 Specter is an integrally suppressed semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP subsonic, designed from the ground up as a quiet weapon rather than a conventional pistol with a suppressor attached. The barrel and suppressor are a single monolithic unit — there is no thread, no attachment point, no way to separate the two without destroying the weapon. This integrated design reduces the overall length compared to a pistol-plus-suppressor combination and eliminates the point-of-impact shift that threaded suppressors can introduce.

The Specter is quiet. Not movie-quiet — there is still a mechanical clack from the action cycling and a muted thump from the subsonic round breaking the air — but quiet enough that the sound does not carry beyond twenty meters in an urban environment with ambient noise. Combined with the .45 ACP's inherent subsonic velocity, the weapon produces no supersonic crack, making it extraordinarily difficult to locate by sound alone.

Tessera developed the Specter under a classified corponation internal security contract and subsequently released a commercial version with identical performance. The message was clear: what Tessera uses to protect its own interests, it is willing to sell to those who can afford it. The commercial Specter costs as much as a mid-range vehicle.
