A modular area-denial weapon system consisting of ground-mounted directional mine units that fire high-velocity ball bearings in a pre-set arc when triggered by sensor input. Axiom Systems designed the PDS-4 for unmanned perimeter defense where budget constraints prohibit autonomous turrets or human guards. Each unit costs less than a day's wages for a security guard, making the Cordon the most cost-effective lethal perimeter defense available. The units are weatherproof, require no power supply (using a chemical propellant charge), and remain armed for up to five years without maintenance.

The Cordon's simplicity is both its strength and its weakness. The units cannot distinguish between threats and civilians — they fire when their passive infrared sensor detects a thermal signature within their activation zone.
