A rifle-format directed-energy weapon that fires a focused microwave beam at ranges up to 50 meters, heating the target's skin surface to create an intense burning sensation without causing visible injury. The Active Denial System technology was developed decades ago but miniaturized by Vantablack into a shoulder-fired platform that a single operator can carry and deploy. The Pacifier causes immediate reflexive retreat — the pain is so intense that targets abandon their position, drop held objects, and flee the beam path involuntarily.

Vantablack sells the PA-1 exclusively to corporate clients for crowd dispersal and perimeter defense. The weapon's appeal is its deniability — it causes extreme pain but leaves no marks, no wounds, and no forensic evidence. A crowd hit by Pacifier beams will disperse screaming, but medical examination will find nothing wrong with them.
