Street Custom 'Cigarette' Pen Gun
A single-shot .22 short firearm built into a metal cigarette case, with the barrel disguised as a cigarette extending from the case's opening and the firing mechanism hidden beneath a false bottom. The operator opens the case, removes the 'cigarette,' holds it to their lips as if preparing to smoke, and presses a concealed button that fires the round. The entire sequence mimics the universal gesture of lighting a cigarette — reaching into a pocket, opening a case, raising something to your mouth — making the weapon deployment invisible in any environment where smoking is common.

The Cigarette is a Shelf masterpiece of social camouflage. It exploits the fact that a person holding something to their face while fumbling with a small case looks like every other smoker in GLMZ. The weapon's effective range is measured in inches — the .22 short round from a 30mm barrel has barely enough energy to penetrate skin at 2 meters — but the weapon isn't designed for range. It is designed for the moment when you're standing next to someone, pretending to smoke, and you press the barrel against their body under the guise of a casual gesture.

Production quality ranges from elegant to crude. The best Cigarettes are machined from actual cigarette cases with precision barrel inserts and reliable spring-loaded firing pins. The worst are hammered together from tin and hope. All of them share the same terrifying characteristic: they look like nothing, carried by millions of people, performing a gesture that no one questions.

tactical useContact-range assassination disguised as a common social gesture. The Cigarette exploits smoking behavior as cover for weapon deployment. Effective only at extreme close range against unaware targets.
cultural contextThe Cigarette is the most intimate weapon in the Shelf's arsenal — it requires you to stand next to your target, mimic a casual gesture, and fire from inches away. Building one is an act of premeditation. Carrying one means you've identified someone specific, in a specific place, at a specific time. It is not a weapon of opportunity. It is a weapon of intent.
known users
  • Shelf assassination specialists
  • Individuals with specific, premeditated targets
  • Anyone who smokes and harbors grudges
story hooks
  • A security camera captured the exact moment a Cigarette was fired — the operator leaning toward the target as if asking for a light, the small flash, the target staggering. The footage shows the killer's face clearly. Nobody recognizes them. They were never seen before the killing and have never been seen since.
  • A Shelf craftsman has been producing Cigarettes with a secondary function — the case contains a genuine cigarette lighter, and the weapon can actually light a cigarette using the barrel flash. The dual-use design makes the weapon pass any functional test: it looks like a lighter, it works like a lighter, and it also kills people.

physical description
visual profileA sleek metal cigarette case, roughly the size of a standard pack, with a single brass-colored cylinder protruding from its opening like a cigarette mid-extraction. At first glance, indistinguishable from an actual smoking accessory—the deception is the entire design philosophy.
dimensionsCase: 8.5cm L × 5.5cm W × 2cm D. Barrel ('cigarette'): 30mm protruding from case opening, 7mm diameter.
weight descriptionLight and balanced—80-120g depending on manufacturing quality. Feels substantial enough to be credible as a real cigarette case, never heavy enough to suggest mechanical complexity.
primary materialMachined or stamped steel/aluminum for the case; brass or steel for the barrel insert; spring-loaded firing mechanism beneath false bottom.
finishMatte brushed nickel or aged chrome on better examples; worn silver or dull brass on street-made variants. Intentionally non-reflective to avoid catching light during the critical moment of deployment.
color schemeSilver, brushed steel, or antique brass. No bright colors—anonymity is the aesthetic. Accent wear patterns suggest age and casual use.
grip textureSmooth metal with gentle knurling on case edges for authentic cigarette-case ergonomics. The 'cigarette' barrel has a slightly rough, hand-held surface mimicking paper texture.
distinctive features
  • Concealed firing button positioned on case interior beneath false bottom—requires pressing while case is open and 'cigarette' in hand
  • Barely-visible barrel seam where precision insert meets case opening
  • Spring-loaded magazine chamber disguised as case lining
  • Micro-relief engravings on case—brand names, decorative patterns, or worn markings to enhance authenticity
  • Minute oxidation and handling wear consistent with daily-carry smoking accessory
  • Heat-bluing or patina on better examples, raw metal on crude versions
manufacturer markingsStreet Custom variants may bear no marks, or crude hand-stamped initials. Higher-tier examples mimic real cigarette case branding—Zippo-style logos, pseudo-luxury maker's marks, or deliberate anonymity through generic design.
condition typicalWell-maintained street customs show deliberate patina and wear—scratches from pocket carry, oxidation from skin oils, minor dents consistent with casual ownership. The weapon is never pristine; pristine draws attention.

Dramatic side-lighting emphasizing the deceptive craftsmanship, shadows catching the barely-visible seams. Worn patina visible under studio lights. Gloved hand (chrome-fingered tactical glove) gently opening case, evoking the universal gesture of reaching for a smoke. Shallow depth of field. Neo-noir noir aesthetic—cold, utilitarian, morally ambiguous. Dark ambient background, neon blue-green accent light catching the brass. --ar 3:2 --v 6
