The NAP-6 requires feedstock cartridges containing purified elemental materials — carbon, silicon, various metals, and other elements in monoatomic form. Crucible manufactures these cartridges at specialized refinement facilities and sells them through a subscription model: the fabrication platform is sold at a subsidized price, but the feedstock cartridges are proprietary, DRM-locked, and priced at margins that make printer ink look charitable. A kilogram of carbon feedstock costs 800 Φ, compared to 0.50 Φ for industrial-grade carbon on the open market — a markup of 1,600 times, justified by Crucible as the cost of monoatomic purification.

The technology has found its primary market in medical implant manufacturing (where material perfection is worth the cost), military component production (where performance justifies any expense), and luxury goods (where molecular-precision craftsmanship is its own selling point). Consumer-grade nanofabrication remains impractical due to feedstock costs, but the technology's trajectory suggests eventual mainstream adoption — a prospect that would reshape manufacturing, supply chains, and the very concept of physical goods if feedstock prices ever fall to commodity levels.
