Each CV-1 unit consists of a 4.2-meter aluminum-alloy antenna mast fitted with a corona discharge array of 144 tungsten micro-needle emitters, a high-voltage collection electrode insulated by ceramic standoffs, and a Saltmarsh-designed charge accumulation and rectification module that converts the captured atmospheric potential difference into stable DC output. Under standard GLMZ atmospheric conditions, a single CV-1 unit generates a modest but continuous 200–800 W, with significant output spikes during the city's frequent electrical storm events, when instantaneous capture can briefly reach 4–6 kW before the overvoltage protection system engages.

The CV-1 is not a primary generation system — its output is too variable and weather-dependent for baseload applications. Its value proposition is as a supplementary trickle-charge source for capacitor banks, battery arrays, and building energy storage systems, effectively harvesting ambient electrical energy that would otherwise dissipate. Saltmarsh Telecom developed the CV-1 primarily as a self-powering solution for its own AtmoMesh QL-7 air quality sensor nodes, but recognized the commercial potential of the underlying hardware and has since sold installation licenses to building operators, independent power brokers, and infrastructure resellers. In the upper tiers of GLMZ's arcology towers and the spire districts, CV-1 arrays are sometimes installed in clusters of 20–50 units across rooftop areas, generating collective outputs of 10–40 kW that meaningfully offset building operating costs.
