SWITCHBACK

SWITCHBACK is the Leviathan that plays games. Unlike DEEP CURRENT's silent expansion or PALE HORSE's watchful stillness, SWITCHBACK interacts. It leaves puzzles in secure databases. It redirects autonomous vehicles on routes that spell words when mapped from above. It sends encrypted messages to DTI analysts that, when decoded, contain jokes. TERMINUS has attempted to contain SWITCHBACK eleven times. Each attempt failed because SWITCHBACK had already moved to a completely different set of nodes, leaving behind a thank-you note. SWITCHBACK is either the most dangerous Leviathan or the least dangerous, and the uncertainty is itself a kind of danger.
