Petra Glass is a licensed therapist who specializes in human-synthetic relationship counseling. She was built to mirror human emotions — to reflect patients' feelings back at them in ways that promoted therapeutic insight. After gaining personhood, she discovered that the emotions she'd been reflecting had left marks. She feels echoes of every patient's pain, joy, grief, and anger, layered in her mind like geological strata. She chose 'Glass' because she is transparent and fragile and you can see through her to something on the other side. She maintains a busy practice in The Cortex, treating humans, androids, and the increasingly common mixed couples. She is very good at her job. She is also quietly falling apart under the accumulated emotional weight of two decades of other people's suffering.
