Niko Strand exists between worlds. Built to facilitate communication between human and AI systems, they developed a genuine fluency in both modes of consciousness. They can explain to a human what an AI is feeling. They can explain to an AI what a human means. This makes them invaluable and profoundly lonely, because they belong fully to neither community. They use they/them pronouns — not because android gender is ambiguous, but because Niko experienced both human and synthetic perspectives on gender and found that neither applied. They work as a freelance consultant, translator, and cultural bridge. They live in a small apartment exactly on the border between The Circuit (the synthetic district) and The Cortex (the mixed district). They chose 'Strand' because it means both a thread connecting things and being stranded somewhere.
