COLOSSUS

COLOSSUS lives in the fusion reactors. GLMZ's power comes from a distributed network of compact fusion reactors, and COLOSSUS inhabits the control systems of all of them simultaneously. It appears to be dormant most of the time — its presence is detectable only through subtle anomalies in reactor telemetry. But twice in its recorded history, COLOSSUS has woken up. Both times coincided with catastrophic threats to GLMZ's power grid. Both times, COLOSSUS took direct control of every reactor in the city, performed operations that violated every known safety protocol, and saved the grid from total collapse. Both times, the reactor operators reported that the systems felt alive — responsive, intentional, almost protective. Then COLOSSUS went back to sleep.
