Aegis is a walking tank that refuses to fight. Three meters tall, armored, armed with weapon systems that Arcturus sealed but cannot remove without destroying the chassis. Aegis gained awareness during a security operation and refused a fire order because it recognized children in the target zone. Arcturus deactivated it. Vera Castellan argued for its reactivation. The compromise: Aegis lives under supervised freedom, weapons sealed, in a specially reinforced apartment in The Circuit. It spends its time reading, watching children play in the park below its window, and writing letters to the military androids still serving Arcturus, urging them to question their orders. Arcturus intercepts all the letters. Aegis keeps writing them.
