The Resonance Chamber is a room. It is located at Underworld depth 6, accessible through a maintenance corridor off the main D6 transit tunnel. It is approximately 8 meters square and 4 meters high, with stone walls, a concrete floor, and a vaulted ceiling. It was originally cataloged as a storage space. It is not used for storage. It is used for names.
When you speak the name of a dead person in the Resonance Chamber, the room vibrates. Not the air — the room. The walls, floor, and ceiling produce a resonance at a frequency that is unique to the name spoken. The vibration is physical: you can feel it in your feet, your hands, your teeth. You can see dust motes dance to it. It lasts for approximately thirty seconds and then fades.
