Dermalloy-V
Dermalloy-V is a flexible nickel-titanium shape-memory alloy woven at the micro-scale with a living dermal tissue layer — BioForge's engineered keratinocyte-fibroblast matrix grown directly onto and into the metal mesh during a co-culture fabrication process. The result is a material that behaves mechanically like a metal fabric but biologically like skin: it can be sutured to host tissue, develops a blood supply through angiogenesis, heals lacerations using the host's own repair mechanisms, and provides sensory feedback through integrated Meissner-corpuscle analogs embedded in the dermal layer. It is the gold standard outer covering for cosmetic and functional prosthetic limbs.

story hooks
  • A Dermalloy-V covered prosthetic limb has been living on a black-market auction block for months — it was harvested from its original owner and the dermal layer is still alive, still healing, still warm, and bidders are disturbed to find it responds to touch.
  • An undercover operative's Dermalloy-V disguise is failing — the dermal layer is angiogenically integrating with their real tissue faster than anticipated, and removing it now would require surgery that would blow their cover and possibly kill them.
  • A Tier 5 socialite has commissioned a full-body Dermalloy-V resurfacing for cosmetic reasons — but their immune system is slowly recognizing that some of the dermal layer's cell cultures were sourced from an unconsenting donor, and a bioethics investigator is following the supply chain.
