An adaptive modification observed in cockroach populations (Blattella germanica and Periplaneta americana) within GLMZ's industrial and electronic waste zones, in which trace metals — primarily copper, tin, and aluminum — are structurally integrated into the chitin matrix of the exoskeleton during molting. The mechanism involves modified digestive enzymes that extract metallic compounds from ingested electronic waste, transport them via hemolymph, and deposit them into the exoskeletal structure during formation. The resulting composite material is measurably harder and more conductive than standard cockroach cuticle. Whether this adaptation is driven by geneware contamination altering the cockroaches' digestive biochemistry or by conventional natural selection in a metal-rich environment is not determined. The adaptation co-occurs with comprehensive pesticide resistance (99.6% of registered compounds) and rudimentary electromagnetic sensitivity manifesting as avoidance of BCI frequencies in the 2.1-2.4 GHz range.
