Induces growth of functional vibrissae (whiskers) on the cheeks, modeled on cat sensory whiskers. The whiskers are 8–12 cm long, stiffer than hair, and rooted in deep follicles surrounded by mechanoreceptor nerve endings. They detect air currents, vibrations, proximity to surfaces, and spatial dimensions with extraordinary sensitivity. A whisker user can navigate in total darkness by air displacement alone, detect a person approaching from behind by air current disruption, and judge whether they can fit through a gap without measuring. The whiskers are expressive — they fan forward when the user is attentive, flatten when startled, and droop when tired. Combined with cat ears, the result is a facial expression system that broadcasts emotional state through ear position, whisker angle, and eye glow simultaneously.
