The enlarged ears — approximately 1.5 times normal size — are densely threaded with blood vessels that dilate during exertion, flushing the ears with warm blood and radiating excess heat rapidly. The modification dramatically improves heat dissipation during intense physical activity, allowing the user to sustain peak performance in conditions that would cause heat exhaustion in an unmodified human. The ears visibly flush red during exertion and can be warm to the touch. Combined with arctic thermoregulation for cold resistance or fast-twitch muscle mods for sprint performance, the radiator ears prevent the overheating that limits maximum exertion. The larger ears also provide mildly enhanced hearing as a secondary benefit.
