Induces growth of overlapping pangolin-style keratin scales on the outer forearms, from wrist to elbow. The scales are thick, hard, and overlapping — functionally equivalent to natural bracers that protect the forearms from cuts, impacts, and abrasion. The modification is specifically targeted to the forearms rather than full-body coverage, making it cheaper and faster to install while protecting the most commonly raised defensive surface. The scales can be raised and flattened through muscular control — raised, they bristle outward like pinecone armor; flattened, they lie smooth and can be concealed under long sleeves. Crucible Genomics developed the modification as an entry-level defensive package for Shelf residents who can't afford full osteodermal plating.
