story hooks	A Tangle Rat colony has built its nest around a critical junction in an underground data cable run — removing it will sever connectivity for a section of the Tier 1 mesh network, but leaving it risks a catastrophic fault. The colony is large, aggressive, and the nest is structurally integrated with the cables themselves. A the Gray Zone district naturalist has documented that two geographically separated Tangle Rat colonies use identical, highly distinctive knotting patterns — a pattern that appears nowhere in the colonies geographically between them. Either they share an ancestor from a single dispersal event, or something is connecting these colonies in a way that doesn't make biological sense.
