A ground-based surveillance micro-drone the size and shape of a large beetle that navigates terrain autonomously, recording audio and video while being virtually indistinguishable from a real insect at casual observation. The RB-2 moves on six articulated legs that mimic insect locomotion, can climb walls, squeeze through gaps as small as 2 cm, and operates for 48 hours on a single charge. Its shell is colored and textured to match local insect populations, and it generates realistic insect movement patterns when stationary to avoid detection. The drone transmits compressed data bursts on a schedule to minimize RF signature.
