The recording was made on analog tape by sound engineer Priya Solano-Wiremu, who waterproofed her equipment with salvaged industrial sealant and positioned microphones in the water itself to capture the acoustic properties of the space. The result is an album that sounds like it is happening inside your chest.

Standout tracks include 'Threshold Current,' which opens with seven minutes of the venue's ambient sound ��� water movement, crowd breath, the distant percussion of the city above — before the band enters so quietly that listeners often cannot identify the exact moment the music begins. 'Haul and Release' features a 14-minute improvised section where bassist Cormac Adeyemi-Strand plays partially submerged, the water affecting both the instrument's resonance and the recording. 'The Names We Left at the Surface' closes the album with a full-band drone that held for 23 minutes on the night of recording; the tape version is edited to 11, and the missing 12 minutes are a subject of persistent speculation among fans.
