Secondhand Saints is a Shelf-based art collective working exclusively in reclaimed textile — discarded clothing, torn upholstery, industrial fabric scraps, and decommissioned synthetic skin panels salvaged from scrapyards — which they weave, knot, and install as large-scale public works across Tier 1 and 2 infrastructure. Their signature pieces are 'drapes': massive textile installations hung across building facades, walkways, and transit underpasses that combine color, texture, and embedded found objects into works that change as residents interact with them, remove pieces, or add their own. The collective operates without a fixed membership — anyone who contributes material or labor to an installation is considered part of that piece's 'weave.' Founding member Adaeze Nnaji-Svensson established the principle that no piece is ever finished: Saints works are intentionally left accessible for community modification. Corporate interests have attempted to commission the collective twice; both times the collective publicly unraveled the proposed site with community participation.
