Corridor Psalms
A four-piece working-class band out of the Circuit's Duwamish Ward, Corridor Psalms built their reputation playing shift-change crowds at fabrication hall loading docks and union halls with busted PA systems. Their sound draws on West African kora patterns filtered through Appalachian drone, layered with the quarter-tone vocal traditions of the old Levantine diaspora — a music that feels simultaneously ancient and distinctly of the megacity. Lead vocalist Amara Solís-Okafor has a voice described by the Circuit press as 'a bruise that sings,' and the band's rhythm section — drummer Jakub Nweze and percussionist Celestine Huang-Ferreira — creates polyrhythmic patterns that somehow feel like a work shift: relentless, purposeful, almost meditative in their grind.

Their 2219 album 'The Seam Holds' became an unofficial anthem for the Municipal Services strike of that year, with the track 'Weight and Wages' played over pirate broadcasts on every striking shift. Vantablack Media's Circuit-facing subsidiary Ironclad Sound offered them a contract twice; they declined both times, citing creative control clauses that would have barred them from performing at Tier 1 venues. They remain self-released on physical chip media, sold at shows and through Circuit mesh networks.

cultural impactCorridor Psalms occupy a rare position in GLMZ's music landscape: genuinely beloved by the people they write about, without the co-optation that usually follows. Their refusal of Vantablack contracts has made them a symbol of creative sovereignty in the Circuit, and 'Weight and Wages' is now sung at labor actions the way old hymns were sung in older struggles. They are frequently cited by labor organizers as proof that music can still function as collective infrastructure rather than product.

story hooks
  • A Vantablack Media talent scout approaches a player character to convince Corridor Psalms to sign — not for profit, but to neutralize their political influence by burying them in contract clauses.
  • The band's drummer Jakub Nweze has gone missing before a major solidarity concert, and the Circuit rumor mill says corporate security detained him without charge.
  • A bootleg neural-feed recording of a Corridor Psalms show is circulating on the Shelf — but the feed contains an embedded signal that isn't music, and someone very corporate wants it recovered.
