The wilderness between GLMZ and the Milwaukee Sprawl — colloquially the Reclaimed Zone — was first flagged by satellite imaging in 2203. Vegetation patterns visible at altitude do not conform to any natural growth model. They are geometric. Not approximately geometric in the way river deltas or crystal structures suggest mathematical regularity. Geometric in the way a circuit board is geometric. Precise. Intentional. Repeating.

The dominant pattern is a Fibonacci spiral. Not one — hundreds, nested and overlapping, ranging from three meters to 1.2 kilometers in diameter. The spirals are composed of different plant species occupying precise positions within the pattern. Prairie grass forms the background. Wildflowers — species-specific, never mixed — trace the spiral arms. Trees mark the vertices of secondary geometric structures that overlay the spirals: hexagons, pentagons, and shapes that our topology consultant, Dr. Idris Kowalski-Bah, describes as "regular polygons that shouldn't tile a plane but do."

The plants were not placed. Root system analysis confirms natural germination and growth. Soil composition is uniform across the patterned areas — there is no chemical or mineral variation that could template the growth. Seed dispersal modeling cannot account for the precision. Wind, animal activity, and water flow do not produce Fibonacci spirals at kilometer scale. Nothing produces Fibonacci spirals at kilometer scale. The patterns are growing. New spirals appear at the edges of the existing formation at a rate of approximately 40 meters per year, expanding outward from a central point that corresponds to no known landmark, structure, or geological feature.

We have not released the satellite imagery. The patterns are visible from commercial orbital platforms, and it is only a matter of time before someone outside the survey division notices them. I do not know what we will say when they do.
