The Ohio Corridor is the sole maintained overland transit route between GLMZ and the nearest verified city-state to the east, a distance of approximately 380 kilometers. Armed convoys depart GLMZ every seven days, carrying cargo and a limited number of authorized passengers. The corridor is narrow — a cleared and patrolled strip of road approximately 300 meters wide at its broadest, cutting through what used to be the state of Ohio. The road surface is maintained by automated systems that repair damage on a continuous cycle. The maintenance is necessary because the road sustains damage that has no clear origin — cracks that appear overnight, sections of asphalt that soften as though heated from below, lane markers that shift position by centimeters between surveys.

The land on either side of the corridor is classified as "non-standard terrain" in official documentation. This is a bureaucratic euphemism. The terrain resists categorization because it does not behave consistently. Aerial surveys conducted six months apart show different landscapes — forest in one survey, grassland in the next, and in one notable instance, a body of water approximately four kilometers in diameter that was present in March and absent in September. Ground-level observation is discouraged but occasionally unavoidable. Convoy security personnel report that the vegetation bordering the cleared zone is visually normal — deciduous trees, underbrush, wildflowers in season — but that it creates an impression of wrongness that none of them can adequately describe. The Ohio Corridor works. Goods move. People travel. The eastern city-state receives its shipments and sends its own. The corridor is proof that the outside can be traversed, that the space between cities is navigable. It is also proof that the space between cities is not empty, not stable, and not indifferent to the people who pass through it.
