During a routine maintenance survey of the sub-grade utility corridors beneath GLMZ's central axis, our team identified a set of pipes that do not appear in any infrastructure plan, utility map, or construction record. The pipes are 15 centimeters in diameter, constructed of a smooth, dark material that resists identification — it is not steel, not copper, not PVC, not any composite in our materials database. They run beneath the primary axis for approximately 4 kilometers, from a point beneath the Lakewall to a terminus beneath the Meridian central exchange, at a depth of 30 meters.

The pipes carry fluid. The fluid is warm — approximately 37 degrees Celsius, consistent across the entire length. The fluid flows upward, from the Lakewall terminus to the central exchange, against a grade of 12 meters. There is no pump. There is no pressure differential that our instruments can detect. The fluid flows uphill, steadily, at a rate of approximately 2 liters per minute, with no apparent motive force.

No utility company claims the pipes. No construction firm has records of installing them. The surrounding infrastructure was built in 2156, and the pipes are embedded in the original concrete pour — they were present before the concrete was placed. The concrete was not modified to accommodate them. They are simply there, enclosed in concrete that was poured around them, in a utility corridor that was designed with no knowledge of their existence.

We extracted a fluid sample. The first analysis identified it as a saline solution with organic compounds — broadly similar to blood plasma. The second analysis, performed on the same sample twelve hours later, identified it as a mineral-rich geothermal brine. The third analysis found a polymer suspension with no biological markers. Every analysis returns different results. The sample is sealed, temperature-controlled, and untampered. It is the same fluid. It is not the same fluid. It is whatever it wants to be when we look at it.
