BCI channel 0x7F3A — an unallocated frequency in the neural interface spectrum — has been intermittently active since at least November 2199. Users who accidentally tune to the channel report experiencing memories that are not their own. The memories are vivid, fully immersive, and belong to people who are dead.

This is not metaphorical. The memories contain verifiable details: names, places, events, personal knowledge that could not have been fabricated by the recipient's own neural architecture. In one case, a dockworker in the Gulch experienced a memory of performing cardiac surgery — a procedure he has no training in — and was able to describe the technique with enough accuracy that a Tessera medical consultant confirmed it matched the methodology of a specific surgeon who died in 2196.

The channel does not broadcast the same memory to multiple users. Each listener receives something different, something that appears to be tailored — though to what criteria, we cannot determine. Some users have reported memories that are mundane: cooking a meal, reading to a child, walking through a city that no longer exists. Others have reported memories that are traumatic. Two users have required psychiatric intervention. One has not spoken since the experience.

We have attempted to record the channel's output using standard BCI logging equipment. The logs show nothing — clean signal, no data. Whatever the channel transmits, it interfaces directly with the listener's neural substrate and bypasses every recording mechanism we have. The dead are sharing their memories with the living, and they are doing it through hardware that we built but do not understand.
