Municipal records show the first reported incident in 2144 — a domestic cat leapt from the walkway railing and fell nine stories. Since then, the Animal Control Division has logged 847 animal deaths at this location. Dogs, cats, birds that land on the railing and then walk off it. The behavior is consistent: the animal approaches the railing at a specific section — a 15-meter stretch on the east side, between structural supports 7 and 9 — and jumps.

The section has been modified twelve times. Railings raised, enclosed, fitted with mesh, replaced with solid barriers. Animals climb the barriers.
