It is approximately the size of a human thumbnail, constructed from a crystalline material that does not match any known synthetic or natural substance. It contains data. The data is encoded in a system that no artificial intelligence, no quantum decryption engine, no human linguist, and no pattern-recognition algorithm has been able to decode in five years of continuous effort.

The encoding is not encryption. Encryption implies a plaintext that has been obscured. The VDS-001 encoding appears to be a native format — a language or notation system built on principles that do not correspond to any human information architecture. Entropy analysis suggests it contains structured information with the complexity profile of natural language, but the structural rules are alien to every known linguistic framework. It is not random.
