It does not carry data. It does not encode information. It simply exists, a pure tone cutting through the electromagnetic murk of one of the most signal-polluted industrial corridors in the Great Lakes region.

No owner has ever been identified. The broadcast has been traced to a general area within the Gary ruins — a 3-square-kilometer zone of collapsed smelting facilities, flooded basements, and condemned infrastructure — but no further. Directional analysis returns contradictory results, as though the signal originates from multiple points simultaneously, or from a point that moves between measurements. Three separate survey teams have attempted ground-level triangulation. Two returned with inconclusive data. One reported equipment failure across all devices simultaneously upon entering the zone.
