Quanta tumbling is the practice of routing currency through a series of intermediate wallets, shell accounts, and automated transaction chains to sever the quantum entanglement trail that links a transaction to its origin. It is the digital equivalent of laundering cash through a series of businesses, except that instead of physical bills changing hands, quantum states are measured, collapsed, re-generated, and re-entangled in a cascade designed to make the original transaction history unrecoverable. The practice is illegal under QFIC Financial Transparency Act Section 12, punishable by asset seizure and permanent wallet restriction. It is also ubiquitous.

The basic tumbling process works as follows. A client sends Quanta to a tumbling service — typically accessed through encrypted BCI channels or physical dead drops in the Shelf. The service distributes the Quanta across hundreds or thousands of intermediate wallets in randomized amounts at randomized intervals. Each intermediate wallet is a disposable quantum state register, used once and then abandoned. The key innovation is the "quantum rinse": at each hop, the intermediate wallet performs a legitimate micro-transaction — purchasing a neural-feed subscription, paying an atmospheric processing fee, buying and immediately reselling a commodity on a micro-exchange — that forces the EDN to generate a new verification entanglement. The new entanglement overwrites the old. By the time the Quanta completes its journey through 50-200 hops and arrives in the client's clean wallet, the quantum state has been re-entangled so many times that tracing it to the original transaction would require reconstructing hundreds of collapsed quantum states — a task that is not computationally difficult but physically impossible. You cannot uncollapse a quantum measurement. You cannot un-ring a bell.

The most sophisticated tumbling services — "laundromats" in street parlance — operate multi-layered systems. Layer one is the initial distribution, breaking the client's deposit into fragments. Layer two is temporal dispersion: the fragments are held in intermediate wallets for varying periods (minutes to weeks) before moving, destroying temporal correlation. Layer three is the quantum rinse cascade described above. Layer four is reconsolidation: the clean fragments are reassembled in a new wallet through a pattern designed to mimic legitimate income — regular deposits of varying amounts that resemble freelance payments, gig earnings, or investment returns. The best laundromats provide "spending templates" — transaction patterns that the clean wallet should follow to avoid triggering Sterling-Nakamura's anomaly detection algorithms. A freshly tumbled fortune that sits inert in a wallet is suspicious. A freshly tumbled fortune that immediately begins making purchases consistent with a plausible lifestyle is invisible.

Axiom's Financial Crimes Division estimates that Φ12.8 billion is tumbled annually in GLMZ alone. Our detection rate is approximately 3.1%. We catch the amateurs — the small-timers who use single-layer tumbling and create obvious patterns — and we miss the professionals. The most successful laundromats are operated by entities with access to large numbers of legitimate wallets: businesses with many employees, organizations with many members, platforms with many users. A laundromat operated through a popular neural-feed content platform can disguise tumbled Quanta as creator revenue payments to millions of accounts. We know this is happening. We know approximately which platforms are involved. We cannot prove it without access to the platforms' internal transaction routing, which would require a warrant from a court that has jurisdiction over the platform's sovereign corponation territory, which in practice means asking the corponation's permission to investigate the corponation.
