Briar Hinojosa is the eye in the sky — or more accurately, the hundred eyes in the sky, the walls, the ventilation systems, and the cracks in the pavement. He is a drone specialist who has built the most sophisticated personal surveillance network in GLMZ's lower tiers, and he uses it to conduct investigations without ever leaving his rooftop workshop.

His fleet numbers over three hundred drones of varying sizes, from bird-scale reconnaissance units to insect-scale infiltrators that can pass through a building's air filtration system without triggering sensors. He builds them himself, maintains them himself, and controls them through a neural interface that allows him to process multiple drone feeds simultaneously — a cognitive feat that would overwhelm most BCI users but which Bao has trained for since childhood.

The limitation is the one you'd expect: he's physically helpless. His investigative skills are extraordinary as long as a drone can go where he needs to look, but he cannot conduct interviews, chase suspects, or handle any situation that requires a human being in the room. He compensates by partnering with more physically capable investigators when cases require it, and by designing his drones to be so capable that physical presence is rarely necessary. His clients love the results and are occasionally disturbed by the process — there's something inherently unsettling about knowing that any insect in the room might be watching you.
