Payment is rendered in labor, food, information, or loyalty, and her ledger of favors owed to her is one of the most valuable documents on The Shelf.

Her reputation has begun to leak upward into The Circuit and even into certain desperate corners of the Meridian Core, which terrifies her in ways she will not fully articulate. She has spent a lifetime being invisible to power and considers that invisibility a survival strategy, a professional asset, and a form of grace.
