Crucible TR-7 'Triage'
The TR-7 is a mass-casualty triage automaton — a six-legged platform standing 1.2 meters tall that deploys to disaster sites, building collapses, and large-scale accidents to perform rapid assessment and prioritization of casualties. It moves between victims, scanning vital signs, assessing injury severity, and attaching color-coded triage tags that indicate treatment priority. It performs this assessment in under fifteen seconds per patient and can process over two hundred casualties per hour — work that would require a team of twenty trained medics.
The TR-7 does not treat injuries. It sorts people into categories: immediate (red), delayed (yellow), minor (green), expectant (black). The last category — expectant — means the patient's injuries are incompatible with survival given available resources. The TR-7 attaches a black tag and moves on. It does this without hesitation, without emotion, without the agonizing human decision of choosing who can be saved and who cannot. Crucible designed the TR-7 specifically to remove this psychological burden from human medics, who suffer lasting trauma from triage decisions. The machine makes the same decisions and suffers nothing.
The TR-7's objectivity is both its greatest strength and its most disturbing quality. It does not consider age, identity, or social value. It assesses physiology and applies algorithms. A child and an elderly person with identical injuries receive identical tags. A corporate executive and a homeless person are sorted by the same criteria. The TR-7 is the most egalitarian machine in GLMZ, and it achieves this equality only in the context of catastrophe — the one situation where the city's rigid hierarchies temporarily dissolve into the binary of alive and dead.

| countermeasures | The unit has no defensive capability. Its hexapod design gives it stability on uneven terrain but it is not fast — walking pace only. It can be disabled by physical damage to its sensor array. |

|
| cultural context | The TR-7 is the automaton that tells you who lives and who dies, and it does so with perfect fairness — a concept that GLMZ finds deeply uncomfortable. In a city built on hierarchies, the idea that a machine treats all human bodies as equally worth assessing is radical. The TR-7 applies egalitarianism to catastrophe. It is the only context in which GLMZ permits equality. |
