The KS-9 is a medium-sized hexapod platform designed for area chemical dispersal operations. Its thorax-mounted pressurized tank system can carry 40 liters of liquid agent — tear gas, nerve agent, incapacitating fog, defoliant, or any other aerosolizable chemical — and disperse it through rotating nozzles that create a uniform fog across a 200-meter radius. The unit is sealed against its own payload, allowing it to operate at ground zero of the chemical cloud it produces.

The KS-9's spider platform allows it to navigate the uneven terrain of Shelf districts, rubble fields, and tunnel systems where wheeled chemical dispersal vehicles cannot operate. It can climb to elevated positions to maximize dispersal coverage, enter buildings through windows and service corridors, and operate in environments already saturated with its own chemical payload. Multiple KS-9 units operating in coordination can maintain a persistent chemical environment across large areas indefinitely, rotating between dispersal and reloading cycles.

What makes the KS-9 particularly concerning is its interchangeable payload system. The same platform that disperses tear gas for crowd control can, with a tank swap taking less than ninety seconds, disperse lethal nerve agents. The mechanical interface is identical. The authorization difference exists only in paperwork.
