The CF-1 was designed as an industrial exoskeleton for hazardous material handling — allowing workers to operate in environments with extreme heat, chemical exposure, and structural collapse risk. The suit provides full environmental sealing, strength amplification for lifting 500 kilograms, and ablative armor that was originally intended to protect against industrial accidents. Crucible then sold the identical platform to security contractors with the industrial tools replaced by weapon mounts.

The combat variant of the CF-1 is less sophisticated than Arcturus's XF-3 — it uses manual controls rather than BCI interface, making it slower to respond but without the addiction risks. The operator controls the suit through a combination of joystick inputs and motion-capture sensors that translate body movements into suit movements with a barely perceptible lag. The armament is modular: arm mounts accept anything from heavy machine guns to cutting torches to chemical sprayers, depending on the mission profile.

The CF-1's real market advantage is price. At roughly one-fifth the cost of an XF-3, it has become the exoskeleton of the middle market — corporate security firms, well-funded mercenary units, and even some wealthy criminal organizations operate CF-1 units. The lower cost means lower capability, but it also means far more of them in circulation, which creates its own kind of threat.
