Palisade defies the typical Behemoth profile. It is not tall — it stands barely four stories high. But it is enormous in footprint, a flat, rectangular platform over 200 meters long and 100 meters wide, crawling on hundreds of small, independently articulated legs like a mechanical centipede the size of a city block. Its upper surface is a featureless expanse of armored plating broken only by regularly spaced turret housings, most of which appear inactive. Palisade moves across the wasteland like a mobile airfield, its passage flattening everything in its path into a smooth, compressed road surface.

The roads Palisade leaves behind are its most notable feature. Wherever it travels, it deposits a layer of compressed aggregate and bonding agent that creates a durable, flat roadway — a highway built by a machine for machines. These roads connect points of apparent significance: old military installations, mineral deposits, locations where other Behemoths frequently pause. The network has been growing for decades, and satellite mapping reveals a pattern that suggests deliberate infrastructure development. Palisade is building a road system across the wasteland, and no one asked it to.

Human communities have begun using Palisade's roads for trade routes, which presents a dilemma. The roads are the best-maintained infrastructure in the wasteland, but they also attract other Behemoths. Palisade's routes seem designed to facilitate machine traffic, and the other Behemoths use them. A settlement built along a Palisade road gets excellent trade access and a front-row seat to regular Behemoth passage — a trade-off that different communities evaluate very differently.
