Vantablack Media's VS-1 is technically not a weapon. It's a mobile surveillance and content acquisition platform — a small, six-legged spider drone roughly the size of a dinner plate, painted matte black, equipped with high-definition optical and audio recording equipment capable of capturing broadcast-quality footage in any lighting condition. It climbs walls, traverses ceilings, and can remain motionless for hours while recording. Vantablack deploys hundreds of them across GLMZ as mobile news-gathering assets.

The VS-1 becomes a weapon in context. Vantablack uses them to document events in the Shelf and lower-tier districts — violence, poverty, corporate operations, personal moments — and broadcasts that content without consent to audiences in the Spires and upper tiers. The surveillance is constant, invasive, and profitable. Residents of documented districts have no opt-out mechanism and no legal recourse, as Vantablack's broadcast licenses cover 'public interest documentation' in all tier zones. Getting caught doing something embarrassing, illegal, or simply private on a Cameraman feed can destroy lives.

The VS-1 also serves as a force multiplier for other operations. Vantablack sells real-time feeds from its Cameraman network to corporate security firms, law enforcement, and — through intermediaries — to criminal organizations. The same drone that films a Shelf family's dinner broadcasts their security patterns to whoever pays for the feed. Vantablack's position is that the data is public-domain observation. Everyone else's position is that it's industrialized stalking.
