It stands at average human height on a wheeled base and presents two padded striking surfaces mounted on articulated arms that mimic a coach holding focus mitts. The machine calls out combinations through a built-in speaker — jab, cross, hook, uppercut — and adjusts pad position to match the user's height and reach. Impact sensors measure force, speed, and accuracy, displaying real-time metrics on a chest-mounted screen.

Padwork is intentionally non-threatening. Its chassis is rounded, its movements are slow and predictable, and it cannot strike back. The arms absorb impact rather than resist it, and the machine rolls backward slightly with heavy hits to simulate realistic pad response. Voice prompts are encouraging and patient, cycling through multiple coach personalities from drill-sergeant to meditation-guru depending on user preference.
