It occupies the owner's closet or dressing room, managing clothing inventory, performing minor repairs, pressing garments, and coordinating outfit selections based on calendar events, weather data, and the owner's established preferences. The VL-2 tracks every piece of clothing in its care, logging wear frequency, cleaning status, and condition assessment.

The VL-2 is not a general-purpose domestic unit. It does exactly one thing: it manages clothes. Meridian Domestic built it for clients who own wardrobes worth more than most people's apartments — people for whom a mismanaged garment represents a financial loss. The unit handles fabrics that would be destroyed by standard cleaning automata: hand-sewn silks, synthetic-weave body armor disguised as business attire, temperature-regulating smart fabrics that require specific folding patterns to maintain molecular alignment.

The VL-2's client base is vanishingly small and absurdly wealthy. It costs Φ120,000 installed. Meridian Domestic technicians visit quarterly for calibration. The entire product exists to serve perhaps three thousand people in GLMZ who own enough expensive clothing to justify a dedicated machine to care for it. It is, by any reasonable measure, the most frivolous automaton ever manufactured. It sells out every production run.
