Its reinforced chassis can support an additional 200 kg of recovered casualties, and its manipulator arms — two heavy-duty limbs mounted at the shoulder assembly — can lift structural debris weighing up to 500 kg. The platform's sealed environmental system allows operation in atmospheres containing toxic gases, biological contaminants, or radiation levels that would incapacitate an unprotected human within minutes.

Crucible built the SAR-6 because GLMZ needs it. The city's lower tiers experience structural collapses with disturbing regularity — aging infrastructure, unlicensed construction, industrial accidents, and occasional corporate ordnance create a steady supply of disaster zones that require search and rescue response. The corponations that control the upper tiers fund rescue operations for their own facilities and personnel. Everyone else gets whatever municipal resources are available, which increasingly means SAR-6 units operating without human backup because there aren't enough trained rescuers to go around.

The Saint Bernard's most remarkable feature is its casualty assessment system. The platform can perform triage on recovered individuals, stabilize life-threatening injuries using onboard medical supplies, and transmit patient data to receiving hospitals while still navigating debris fields. It is, in many cases, the only medical professional that lower-tier disaster victims will see for hours — a machine that performs the work of compassion because the system that created the need for compassion can't be bothered to provide it through people.
