The PX-1 is a quadruped platform with a radical design feature: its entire exterior surface is coated in adaptive camouflage plating that bends visible light around the chassis, rendering the unit functionally invisible to the naked eye. The effect is not perfect — there is a faint shimmer when the unit moves, like heat haze, and the system cannot mask the unit's thermal signature or acoustic output. But in visual-dominant engagement scenarios — which describes most human combat — the PX-1 is something that isn't there until it is.

The platform carries no ranged weapons. Its combat systems are entirely close-range: reinforced jaw mechanism with tungsten-carbide teeth, forelimb-mounted vibro-blades that extend on command, and a neural disruptor pulse emitter on its forehead that can scramble unshielded BCIs at contact range. The tactical concept is assassination: the PX-1 approaches unseen, strikes at close range, and withdraws before the target's companions can identify the threat's location.

Arcturus has produced only four PX-1 units, and the program is classified above standard corporate security clearance. The adaptive camouflage system is phenomenally expensive to produce and maintain, and the light-bending effect degrades over time, requiring recalibration after every deployment. The four existing units are reserved for operations that Arcturus considers worth the investment — which means operations that no one is supposed to know happened.
