Up close, the lack of a face dispels the illusion. The CP-2 has a smooth faceplate with a speaker grille and a status display that shows its operating organization's logo.

The CP-2 patrols assigned routes, responds to distress calls from fixed panic buttons in its territory, and intervenes in situations it classifies as criminal — theft, assault, vandalism. Its intervention capability is limited to verbal commands ('Stop. Security has been alerted. Remain where you are.'), physical presence (blocking exits, following suspects), and non-lethal restraint (wrist-mounted adhesive projectors that fire a quick-hardening polymer net). It cannot arrest, detain beyond the arrival of human security, or use lethal force under any programming.

Ringo markets the CP-2 as 'the security guard who never sleeps, never takes a bribe, and never uses excessive force.' Critics note that the CP-2 also never uses discretion — it enforces rules as written, which means a homeless person sleeping in a corporate lobby is treated with the same intervention protocol as an armed robber. The machine does not distinguish between crimes and inconveniences. Both are deviations from permitted behavior, and the CP-2 responds to deviations.

cultural context	The CP-2 is the face of automated law enforcement — or rather, the facelessness of it. It represents a vision of security without judgment, which sounds equitable until you realize that judgment is what separates justice from compliance. The CP-2 enforces compliance. Whether it delivers justice is someone else's problem.
