A long, stiff-shouldered overcoat in industrial yellow-tan, manufactured specifically for Shelf residents and Tier 2 workers who live near chemical processing zones, waste corridors, or the old industrial lakefront. The outer shell is a laminated multi-layer barrier fabric rated for splash resistance against a documented list of common corridor contaminants — sulfuric compounds, petrochemical residue, certain industrial solvents. It is not a full hazmat suit. It is what people wear when they cannot afford a full hazmat suit but still need to walk home through a place that smells wrong. The coat reaches the ankles, has sealed cuffs that can be cinched over gloves, and a high collar with a filtration-compatible face seal along the upper edge.

Oxweld is a Tier 1 to 2 corponation subsidiary — technically a safety equipment manufacturer, not a fashion brand — and their overcoats are sold in bulk through company stores, Shelf distribution points, and licensed resellers near industrial zones. They are ugly. They are effective within their rating. The lining is a rough cotton-poly that chafes in cold weather and the seams are utilitarian at best. But when the eastern wind comes off the old industrial channel and the air tastes metallic, you want one of these between you and whatever is in that air.
