VLTG // Corroded Signal Tour Tee
The official tour shirt from VLTG's 2198 'Corroded Signal' run — a hundred and four shows across the Meridian corridor and three outer settlements. The shirt is a heavy 6.5oz cotton-analog in washed black, screen-printed with a fragmented transmission tower graphic on the front and a full tour date list on the back, several of which are crossed out with thick red ink (shows that were shut down by Vantablack security contractors or cancelled when venues were raided). The print has a deliberate degraded look — part of the aesthetic, part of the authenticity.

Two years on, the Corroded Signal tee has graduated from merchandise to artifact. VLTG's sound — a dense, confrontational mix of industrial percussion and melodic noise — soundtracked a lot of things that happened in 2198, some of them documented, some of them not. Wearing one says you were there, or you know someone who was, or you care enough about the era to have tracked one down. They show up at Shelf markets, Tier 2 secondhand stalls, and occasionally on Tier 3 bodies who paid considerably more than face value to acquire the credibility.

story hooks
  • One of the crossed-out tour dates was a show that officially never happened — the venue doesn't exist in any city record — but people swear they attended it.
  • A Vantablack analyst has been quietly acquiring every Corroded Signal tee they can find and will not say why.
  • A character wearing this shirt is recognized on the Shelf by someone who says, 'You were at the Kessel Street show.' The character has never been to Kessel Street.

physical description
visual profileA relaxed, slightly oversized band tee with a deliberately worn aesthetic. The fragmented transmission tower graphic dominates the chest in faded, cracked screen-print. The back showcases a dense grid of tour dates with visible red ink strike-throughs — a visual record of cancelled/raided shows. The overall impression is of lived history, not manufactured vintage.
fitRelaxed and slightly oversized, typical of merchandise tees. Sits naturally on the shoulders with a straight drop through the torso. Comfortable enough for all-day wear but with enough structure to hold the graphic without sagging.
primary materialHeavy 6.5oz cotton-analog blend — durable synthetic-cotton hybrid with subtle sheen in certain light. Designed to age authentically rather than degrade uniformly.
textureSoft hand-feel with visible tooth to the weave. The screen-printed graphic has deliberate cracking and fading that mimics genuine wear. Thread edges are slightly loose in places — part of the intentional degraded aesthetic. The collar and cuffs show natural fraying from handling.
color schemeWashed black base with faded charcoal tones where the graphic sits. The transmission tower print is rendered in progressively lighter grays to suggest signal degradation. Red ink crosses on the back tour dates are vibrant and unmissable — the only color anchor on the garment.
closuresNone — standard crew neck tee with no visible fasteners or adjustments.
distinctive features
  • Fragmented transmission tower graphic with intentional print cracking
  • Full 2198 tour date listing on back with hand-drawn red ink strike-throughs marking cancelled/raided shows
  • Deliberately degraded print finish — aesthetic authenticity rather than artificial distressing
  • Visible wear patterns at collar, cuffs, and hem consistent with genuine two-year ownership
  • No visible branding or manufacturer tags — pure merchandise authenticity
  • Slight uneven fading suggesting it's been worn in direct sunlight
tier indicatorOriginally Tier 3 merchandise, now functions as a Tier 2 status symbol when secondhand. Ownership signals historical awareness and subcultural credibility that transcends price point.
cultural contextWearer signals connection to the 2198 industrial/noise music underground, specifically the resistance moments that occurred during VLTG's Corroded Signal tour. Indicates either direct participation in documented events, proximity to that era, or deliberate subcultural investment. Rare enough to indicate genuine interest rather than casual fandom.
condition typicalTwo-year-worn and showing it authentically. Graphics are faded but legible. Collar is softened and slightly stretched. No major holes but visible fraying at seams. The red ink on the back tour dates has oxidized slightly, creating a dated authenticity. Each garment bears unique wear patterns based on individual ownership.
image promptA weathered Corroded Signal tour tee on a lean, augmented model shot in moody neon-filtered light. The transmission tower graphic is visible front-center, heavily cracked from age. The back detail shows densely packed tour dates with red ink strike-throughs, shot against dark industrial concrete. Soft cyan and magenta backlighting creates atmospheric neo-noir urban aesthetic. Model's left arm shows subtle chrome plating at wrist. Shallow depth of field emphasizes print degradation. Shot in a derelict venue or warehouse setting. --ar 2:3 --v 6
