GLMZ's weather comes off the lakes hard — sideways rain, wind that finds gaps in everything, cold that drops fast. The Mirova Coastline is a rain shell built for the city's actual climate by a mid-sized outerwear label that operates out of a converted warehouse in the Tier 2 port district. The shell is a three-layer bonded nylon in muted slate blue, forest green, or the perennial seller, a dark burgundy that doesn't show grime. The hood packs into the collar, the cuffs seal with velcro tabs, and the front zip is covered by a snap-close storm flap. It is not a beautiful jacket. It is a jacket that keeps you dry.

The Coastline sells well across Tier 2 and Tier 3 because it costs a reasonable amount of money and does exactly what it claims. It's the jacket you grab when the weather app says seventy percent chance of precipitation and you don't want to ruin anything better. Students wear it. Commuters wear it. Street vendors who work outdoor stalls in the transit plazas wear it. Nobody notices you wearing it, which is sometimes exactly what you want.
